육군 대위인 상규는 경화와 결혼하여 행복한 신혼생활을 하던 중 한국전쟁이 발발하여 임신한 경화를 남겨두고 참전하게된다. 이후 상규의 전사통지서를 받은 경화는 아들 \\\"상\\\"을 데리고 고생하던 중 건설회사 사장인 한사장과 재혼한다. 한편 북한군 포로가 되었던 상규는 탈출에 성공하여 돌아와 오랜 시간 아내를 찾아 전국을 헤매지만 결국 찾지 못한다. 오랜 시간이 지난 후 상규는 우연히 한사장의 회사에서 건축기사로 일하게 되지만 경화는 너무나 변해버린 그를 알아보지 못한다. 그러다가 건설현장에서의 사고로 크게 다친 상규가 병원에 입원하고 경화가 그의 간호를 하게 되면서 결국 그가 자신의 전남편임을 알게 되나 상규는 경화의 행복을 빌며 홀로 떠난다.陆军上尉的尚奎和京华结婚，在过着幸福的新婚生活的时候，韩国战争爆发后，留下了“怀孕的硬性”，将会参战。此后，接到上奎的战死通知书的“京华”，是带着儿子“奖”，在辛苦的过程中与建设公司总经理韩社长再婚。另外，成为北韩军队俘虏的尚奎成功逃脱，并回到了全国各地，但最终还是找不到。很久之后，尚奎偶然在一个老板公司上班，但他却没有认出他。在这样的情况下，在建设现场发生的事故中，受伤的尚奎住进医院，并在他的护理下，他知道他是自己的丈夫，而上奎是他的妻子，他的妻子是他的妻子。
